I paint the question, not the answer.
I am drawn to questions that resist resolution: Who am I? What is consciousness? What does it mean to exist? What is death? How much of reality is shaped by the way we see?
I paint when these questions consume me until I give them form. Through realism, symbolism, and surrealism, I create images that explore what lies beyond ordinary experience.
My paintings are my reflections. When I return to an earlier work, I encounter not simply an image from my past, but the question that compelled me to paint it: the thoughts, emotions, and intensity of that moment.

Biography
Born in 1971 in Karachi, Pakistan, Saqib Mughal began studying visual expression at an early age. After completing his fine arts education in Karachi in 1997, he relocated to the United States, where he currently resides and paints. His work explores the meaning behind physical forms, combining classical realism with existential surrealism to examine what lies beyond immediate perception.
Saqib’s paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions across Pakistan and the United States. Following these exhibitions, he chose to pause public showings to focus on private studio inquiry, developing his current body of work away from external commercial trends.
Approaching painting as a medium for philosophical reflection, he uses each canvas to address core questions of identity, consciousness, and perception.
